The Faculty of Education of the Universidad Autonoma de Bucaramanga (UNAB) is an institutional organization of academicians, whose essential purpose is the comprehensive instruction of professional in the fields of teaching, research, and social outreach with a humanistic view that will enable them to bring together theory, practice, critical reflection, ethics and aesthetics as regards the development of scientific knowledge, technological advances, artistic expression and the socio-cultural conditions involved in the educational process. In short, you could say that the Faculty of Education prepares teachers for the educational system.
The Faculty began to operate in mid 1976, a time during which the President was Alfonso Gomez Gomez. In his own words, "it was created to build the pedagogical awareness with the conviction to prepare educators concerning all the entities and persons in the conditions and with the capacity to do so."
Since then, the Faculty has been carrying out educational processes with the greatest care and professionalism, which has earned it recognition within the university as well as that of the regional and national educational community. The staff of the Faculty of Education has built a space in the heart of society in Santander. Our teachers are known for their pedagogical, human, ethical, aesthetic, artistic and professional qualities.
Our mission is to prepare excellent professionals in education at the undergraduate and graduate levels, based on critical, contextualized and interdisciplinary reflection on Pedagogy, geared toward the transformation of educational practices and the communities in which they teach.
Our vision to 2012 is to be a high quality academic and research unit; a leader in offering conventional and virtual programs satisfying institutional, local, regional, domestic and international interest. The excellence of our programs will be recognized by domestic and international accreditation agencies.
