Our interdisciplinary team consists of professionals trained in different fields of knowledge with specializations, masters degrees and PhDs, experienced in Journalism, Organizational Communication and Audiovisual Arts, who play a role and construct knowledge based on socio-humanistics, and also the design and creation of visual communicative images contributing to the artistic universe.
Our Syllabi conceive the training of excellent professionals who will be leaders in their careers, educated based on comprehensive training and independent learning. The first means not only the education of a professional, but also of a citizen who will participate in the development of his/her environment. Students' classroom activity is marked by communicative products that educate them and have an impact on their lives.
Independent learning on their behalf, translates the ways students relate to their classmates and professors, and also their capacity to take on a critical attitude toward society and the need to come up with elements to improve social reality based on communication management.
Teaching The pedagogical training of our professors and its application in the classroom is in line with the educational philosophy proposed by the UNAB. That is to say, our professors are independent, critical professionals that educate based on knowing for doing and vice versa, with a sense of comprehensive education.
The Faculty of Communication and Audiovisual Arts in both programs, Social Communication (majoring in Journalism and Organizational Communication) and Audiovisual Arts, has a teaching staff made up of professionals from different disciplines and fields of knowledge in Social Sciences and Arts, whose academic rigor and demands in academic preparedness is demonstrated in the excellent results on the social aspect of the ECAES State tests and the awards and distinctions granting us privileged recognition in the regional, national and international contexts.
Research As part of the research ideology, the Faculty of Communication and Audiovisual Arts has geared its process toward in-depth educational research, based on the so called integration cores, which facilitate the constant congregation of the disciplines of knowledge that come up with research projects each semester for students.
Similarly, it encourages basic research based on institutional policies applied by the General Research Directorate. The UNAB makes it possible for professors to participate internally in research proposals and provides a fundamental budget for the activity. Similarly, it promotes and supports project management in COLCIENCIAS and other scientific entities in Colombia and abroad.
Laboratories The Faculty of Social Communication and Audiovisual Arts has provided an Audiovisual Production Center for its professors and students; it is equipped with a series of photographic, radio and television production equipment, as well as spaces to carry out their academic activities with the latest technology to put the knowledge acquired into practice and carry out production exercises to put them in contact with the real world of electronic communication media.
